Manchester City are set to move ahead with plans to extend the Etihad next summer. During the 2014-2015 season, the capacity of the Etihad was increased to a little over 55,000 from 47,400.
The management at City have been impressed with attendances so far this season with Premier League matches about 98 percent full.
A source said:
"The Club feels the time is right to extend the stadium even further to mark the Pep Guardiola era."
Etihad aiming to become second largest stadium in Britain.
The increase in capacity would make the Etihad the second biggest club stadium in the UK after bitter rivals United's Old Trafford.
